Special service to celebrate Society’s golden jubilee at Norwich Cathedral

A special service to celebrate the Society’s golden jubilee will be held at Norwich Cathedral on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

All members of the Round Tower Churches Society and guests are invited to attend the service, which starts at 5.30pm. The Cathedral requests that everyone is seated by 5.20pm.

The Society, which was founded by Bill Goode, now had more than 500 members spread across the country. Over the past 50 years, an estimated £400,000 has been given to round tower churches and in the past year alone, around £40,000 has been pledged.

The official “birthday” of the Society was September 1, 1973 – and the membership year still runs from the date.

Membership secretary Nick Wiggin said that 13 new members have joined the Society bringing the total to 511. In addition, a total of £1,345 had been received in donations.
