Cyclist goes the extra mile for the Society

A new recruit to the Society has been combining his permitted “lockdown” exercise by cycling and taking photographs of round tower churches.

His photograph of St Andrew’s, Wickmere, in north Norfolk, features on the front page of the current edition, June 2020, of The Round Tower.

David Faulkner, who lives at Aylsham, took to two wheels – partly to exercise during the Covid-19 “lockdown” – and to take countryside and landscape photographs for Stalham Farmers’ Club’s website.

When he visited St Mary, Stody, in late April, the club’s secretary, Michael Pollitt, also the magazine’s editor, asked Mr Faulkner to take more photographs of round tower churches. As a result, a number of new images, taken in April and May, now feature on the Society’s website – for example, Bessingham, Gresham (pictured above), Matlaske, Ingworth and Stody.
