Summer music concerts to raise funds for church restoration

A series of fund-raising events are planned in aid of round tower churches in the next two months.

There are concerts planned in August at Rickinghall Inferior, near Diss, and in September, Geldeston stages “Proms in a Geldeston Garden.”

On Saturday, August 13, the Shakespeare Singers with Hexachordia will be presenting an unusual evening at Rickinghall Inferior in aid of the restoration fund. It is a celebration of women and fashion in words and music, old and new, starting at 6pm – and there’s no charge.

The former girl choristers of St Edmundsbury Cathedral will be performing. There will be a retiring collection.

On Sunday afternoon, September 11, the beautiful gardens at 76, The Street, Geldeston, near Beccles, will host the East Coast Sinfonietta under the baton of Frankie Ayers, led by Beverley McInnes.

The programme includes Land of Hope and Glory, Crown Imperial, Jerusalem, and many more favourites. It starts at 2pm and ends around 4pm.

Organised by the Geldeston PCC in aid of the restoration appeal, tickets cost £6 – from Take Note Music on 01502 217505 or email: tidingsmag@gmail.com or 01502 713384.
